GRADE POINT AVERAGE:
For academic college courses that are converted to high school credit, the credit and grade reported by the college will be computed into the high school GPA using the same Add-On GPA scale as Honors and Advanced courses. Grades for elective courses such as fine arts, business, and physical education will not be Add-On courses and will use the regular grading scale. Courses that receive a failing grade, a grade of Withdraw Fail, or an Incomplete will also be factored into the high school grade point average. Students must be fully aware that college instructors will award grades based on COLLEGE LEVEL PERFORMANCE and will assume that the student has already received exposure to the material at the high school level.
PROCESS FOR GRANTING CREDIT:
High school credit awarded for courses successfully completed under College Credit Plus shall meet or exceed the graduation requirements and subject area requirements of the school district. Courses will be listed by course title on the high school transcript. Conversion of credit for college courses to high school credit will be calculated as follows:
If a student fails or fails to complete a course for any reason, the student is responsible for reimbursing the school district for ALL expenses related to the course under Option B, unless the student is eligible for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Any student who fails or fails to complete a class that is being used for high school credit will have that grade calculated in the high school grade point average and class rank. Class failures will also be calculated into the eligibility for participation in sports. Failure of any college course that is being applied for high school credit toward meeting graduation requirements will result in a deficiency, which must be made-up in a timely manner and may jeopardize high school graduation. Courses that receive a grade of Withdraw Fail will also be incorporated as a failing grade into the GPA and class rank under Option B, or if the high school credit option was selected under Option A. Students will not receive a final, official transcript or diploma until all expenses have been reimbursed.
SCHEDULING:
No high school graduation requirement will be waived for any student as a result of participating in the College Credit Plus program. Students may not enroll in college courses that have a time conflict with any needed regularly-scheduled high school courses. Students will not be permitted to arrive late to classes or to leave early, except under special circumstances due to school delays, final exams, or other changes in the daily schedule. Students are not to remain in the high school during the time they do not have a high school class scheduled. It is the students’ responsibility to work with the high school counselor and the college advisor to resolve any scheduling conflicts. The high school counselor may not be available during the summer when colleges may offer fall registrations. Mid-August is when she will be available to finalize your schedule.
NEW for 2016-17 – Students may now register for SUMMER courses at the colleges via CCP, Option B. The student must meet with his/her guidance counselor to ensure adequate credits are being earned for high school graduation.
